Portraiture has been the focus of my current work. These charcoal drawings form an intimate ad hoc album or diary of portraits based on photos taken over a decade-long period. The subjects were to be friends and family and were photographed by my wife Vickie. I had one requirement; i.e. that they all be left-side profiles. Even that effort to democratically standardize the format was loosely followed. The current placement of the portraits for exhibition was also random. It should be noted that four of the people whose portraits are in the show have now died. Thus, the work has become a memorial tribute.
